The Women's World Cup kicks off in Germany on June 26 - when 16 teams will be vying for the title. Two African squads are participating this year: Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea. Women's soccer is attracting growing interest on the African continent.

Doreen Nabwire grew up in the slums of Nairobi. The Kenyan government did not promote women's football - leaving her little chance of pursuing a career in the sport at home. Now, an international training program organized by European football's governing body UEFA and the Dutch football association are helping to make her dreams a reality. Doreen now plays for the FC Zwolle in the Dutch women's first division, where she is completing training to become a coach. She hopes to return to Kenya and help other young girls there.
